Safe, Soothing Teething Remedies
Baby-Safe Teething Remedies (6+ Months)
These soothe sore gums without scary risks:
1. Chilled Banana
Peel and freeze half a banana
Let baby gnaw (always supervised!)
Great for sore gums and a little nutrition boost
2. Cold Steamed Carrot (Not Raw!)
Steam until soft
Chill in the fridge
Always thicker than a chokeable size
3. Breastmilk Popsicles or Ice Cubes
Freeze in mesh feeders or silicone molds
Familiar taste = calming comfort
Helps with hydration too!
4. Cold Washcloth Trick
Soak a clean baby washcloth in water
Chill or partially freeze it
Baby-safe to chew and suck
5. Chilled Silicone Teethers or Spoons
Pop them in the fridge
Avoid gel-filled or liquid-filled toys (can leak or rupture)
BPA-free only!
6. Chilled Sweet Potato Wedges
Steam thick slices of sweet potato until soft
Cool in fridge (or lightly freeze)
Naturally sweet and easy to grip
7. Frozen Fruit in Yogurt
Dip soft fruit in full-fat plain yogurt
Freeze briefly on wax paper
Great for 9+ months (check for dairy readiness)
8. Teething Pacifier Hack
Fill a pacifier with a bit of frozen puree (banana, pear, etc.)
Chill for 15–30 mins
Supervised chewing = happy gums
9. DIY Teething Rings
Wet a baby washcloth, roll it up, twist into a ring, and freeze
Easy grip for little hands
No plastic, no worries!
10. Cold Silicone Straw Cup Mouthpiece
Let baby chew on the soft straw of a cold, empty cup -great for mouth development and teething relief.
11. Cold Avocado Slice (Thick-Cut)
For babies on solids: cut into a chunky slice, chill in fridge. It’s creamy, soft, and safe with supervision.
12. Chilled Mango Pit (Supervised)
Once mango is peeled and cut, the pit can be chilled and offered for baby to gnaw on with close supervision. Sweet, slippery, and soothing!
13. Cold Coconut Water Pops (for 6M+)
Freeze pure coconut water in small molds or into feeders (if already introduced). Hydrating, naturally sweet, and soothing to inflamed gums.
14. Frozen Zucchini Stick (Softened)
Blanch zucchini sticks lightly, then freeze. Use in mesh feeder for a cold, squishy chew. Great for little ones with sensitive gums.
